French / Modern Foreign Languages

During French lessons, our pupils are encouraged to sing, act, tell stories (and even dance occasionally!).  All children participate in the annual 'French-Speaking World' - 'Journeè De La Francophoniè celebrations which allow them to practice their newly acquired language skills with a purpose.

We aim to promote the pupils’ linguistic competence by providing our pupils with challenging and enjoyable activities to develop competence in the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.  We want to provide our pupils with language learning tools that an be applied to any new language they may choose to study.

In addition, we have designed the curriculum to encourage our pupils' understanding of other cultures and traditions, promoting global citizenship and the role they can play as individuals.

The languages curriculum is designed to be challenging, meaningful and fun.
