Head Of Food Technology
Head Of Food Technology
Lisa graduated from the University of North London with a BSC in Food and Consumer Studies. Before deciding to do a PCCSE in Secondary Education in Food, she managed a Thornton’s shop. On completing her PGCE, Lisa took her first teaching job in a secondary school in Putney. She then moved to a secondary school in Walton-on-Thames, where she taught not only Food Technology but Resistant Materials, Textiles and Health and Social Care.
After 11 years, she embarked on a new challenge in a pupil referral unit, working with children who were permanently excluded from school or found attending mainstream school difficult. Although it was a very challenging environment at times, it was a very rewarding one.
Four years ago, Lisa moved to Ripley. She had always liked the idea of teaching in a primary setting, but it is quite rare for primary schools to have Food Technology facilities. Lisa thoroughly enjoys teaching the children to cook, teaching them about ingredients and providing them with an important lifelong skill.
