Prep Upper Court Co-Curricular Programme

Where children discover their passions, develop confidence and thrive beyond the classroom

Life in Upper Court is vibrant and full of opportunity. We believe that some of the most important learning happens beyond the classroom, where children are able to explore new interests, develop their talents and discover what they enjoy.

Through sport, music, drama, art, STEM, trips, workshops and enrichment opportunities, pupils are encouraged to try new things, embrace challenges and develop the confidence, creativity and resilience that will support them throughout their education and beyond.

“I love that there are so many things to try at Ripley Court. You can find something you really enjoy, whether that’s sport, music, drama or something completely new” Sam year 5

Sport, Teamwork and Personal Growth

Where every child can find their strength

Sport plays an important part in life at Ripley Court. Our programme is inclusive, active and ambitious, encouraging pupils to develop skills, build confidence and enjoy being part of a team.

Pupils benefit from weekly PE, swimming and games lessons, with four hours of team games from Year 3, regular fixtures against other schools and inter-house competitions. Our seasonal programme includes:

  • Autumn term: football and netball
  • Spring term: rugby and hockey
  • Summer term: cricket

Alongside competitive opportunities, we ensure every child is encouraged to participate, improve and experience the enjoyment and sense of achievement that sport brings.

Music, Drama and the Arts

Where creativity comes to life

Creativity flourishes in Upper Court, with music, drama and art playing an important role in developing confidence, self-expression and imagination.

Music is a central part of school life. Year 3 pupils learn the ukulele, with many choosing to continue their musical journey through individual tuition and ensembles including orchestra, wind group, rock band and choir. Regular concerts and performances give pupils the opportunity to share their achievements and grow in confidence.

Through drama, pupils develop communication skills, creativity and self-belief. Years 3 and 4 take part in an annual production, while Year 6 pupils enjoy the opportunity to perform in a major end-of-year show. Optional LAMDA lessons further develop confidence, communication and performance skills.

Art is taught by specialist teachers, allowing pupils to explore a range of techniques and media. Talented pupils can join the Art Scholarship Club, while creative clubs and opportunities throughout the year allow children to continue developing their interests.

STEM, Technology, Clubs and Enrichment

Where curiosity becomes innovation

Our enrichment programme gives pupils the opportunity to explore beyond the classroom and develop skills for the future.

Through STEM projects in our dedicated STEM room and access to the Future Tech facilities at Reed’s School, pupils develop creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills through practical, hands-on experiences.

Beyond the classroom, pupils can explore a wide range of clubs before, during and after school, including coding, cookery, art, film making, mindfulness, judo, sport and many more. These opportunities allow children to pursue their interests, discover new passions and develop skills beyond the curriculum.

Trips, Experiences and Adventures

Where memories are made

Educational visits, workshops and residential trips provide experiences that broaden horizons and help children develop independence, resilience and confidence.

From two-night adventures in Years 3 and 4 to four-night residential experiences in Years 5 and 6, pupils are encouraged to step outside their comfort zone, work together and create memories that stay with them long after they leave Ripley Court.

Through these experiences, pupils grow not only as learners but as individuals. Guided by our values of perseverance, aspiration, curiosity and kindness, and supported by strong relationships with staff, children develop confidence, resilience and character alongside their academic abilities.

At Ripley Court, our co-curricular programme is an essential part of helping children discover who they are, what they enjoy and what they can achieve. These experiences help pupils leave us ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges of senior school and beyond.
