Prep Upper Court Curriculum

Where a broad, ambitious curriculum inspires a love of learning

At Ripley Court, our Upper Court curriculum is carefully designed to provide an academically ambitious education that challenges pupils, develops independent thinking and prepares our children exceptionally well for the next stage of their journey.

Our approach combines strong academic foundations with creativity, innovation and fostering a genuine love of learning. We believe that education should prepare children not only for senior school, but for life — developing confident learners who can think critically, solve problems and approach challenges with curiosity and resilience.

Small class sizes and excellent pupil-to-teacher ratios ensure that every child is known, valued and supported. Our teachers understand each pupil’s strengths and areas for development, enabling them to provide both challenge and support at the right level. This personalised approach allows pupils to make excellent progress while developing confidence and independence.

From Year 5, pupils benefit from specialist teaching across all subjects, learning from passionate subject experts who bring their subjects to life. Our curriculum has been carefully developed alongside our partnership with Reed’s School, ensuring that pupils are exceptionally well prepared for the academic expectations, skills and learning habits needed for senior school. This collaboration provides valuable insight into future pathways while ensuring our pupils transition with confidence.

Our Broad and Balanced Curriculum Includes:

  • Daily English and Mathematics
  • Science, History, Geography, Religious Studies and Philosophy and French
  • Latin from Year 5
  • Computing, coding, and digital skills
  • Music, Drama, Food Technology, Art, PE, and year-round swimming
  • PSHE, reasoning skills, and weekly Enrichment

Our independent curriculum allows us to extend beyond the National Curriculum, providing a broad and ambitious education that combines academic depth with creativity, innovation and opportunities for exploration.

Where Learning Comes to Life

Learning at Ripley Court extends far beyond the classroom. Weekly enrichment opportunities allow pupils to explore new interests and develop their talents through STEM, the arts, technology, music, drama, Forest School, Food Technology and more.

Our dedicated STEM room encourages curiosity, creativity and practical problem-solving, while access to specialist facilities through Reed’s Future Tech facilities further enhances opportunities for innovation, teamwork and critical skills for the future.

Our classrooms buzz with curiosity and collaboration. Through educational visits, workshops, visiting speakers and hands-on experiences, pupils are encouraged to ask questions, make connections and take ownership of their learning.

The result is a curriculum that combines academic ambition with a genuine enjoyment of learning — giving children the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed at senior school and beyond.
