Curriculum and Specialist Teaching Our Approach

Our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with a strong focus on the three prime areas of learning:

• Communication and language
• Physical development
• Personal, social, and emotional development

Every child is unique, and so is their learning journey. Through close observation and responsive planning, we tailor experiences to reflect each child’s interests, strengths and stage of development, building on what they already know and love. We take the time to truly know every child as an individual, discovering what sparks their imagination, captures their interest and helps them thrive.

Our thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor learning environments are filled with open-ended resources that encourage creativity, collaboration, problem-solving and critical thinking. We work closely with parents, sharing each child’s progress and celebrating achievements together, ensuring every child receives the support they need to flourish.

Children leave Ripley Court Nursery as confident, curious and independent learners, ready to embrace Reception with enthusiasm and a genuine love of learning.

Specialist Teaching and Exceptional Enrichment from the Very Beginning

One of the things that makes Ripley Court Nursery distinctive is the breadth of opportunity available from an early age. Children benefit from specialist teaching, exceptional facilities and enriching experiences that extend far beyond those typically found in a nursery setting.

Experiences that many children do not encounter until much later in their education are woven naturally into Nursery life, helping to build confidence, curiosity and a love of learning while introducing children to new skills and interests.

Our weekly programme includes:

• Forest School adventures across our 19-acre grounds
• Swimming lessons in our indoor pool, developing confidence and water safety skills
• Specialist-led music and dance sessions
• French introduced through playful songs, stories and games
• Cooking and themed activities that encourage creativity, independence and early life skills

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Outdoor learning plays a central role in life at Ripley Court Nursery. With 19 acres of beautiful Surrey countryside to explore, dedicated outdoor learning spaces and our Forest School programme, the natural environment becomes an extension of the classroom.

We believe every child should have the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature’s wonders and discover the world around them. Whether building dens in the woods, splashing in puddles, searching for minibeasts or simply enjoying the freedom of outdoor play, children learn through hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and imagination.

Time spent outdoors supports physical development, emotional wellbeing and resilience, while encouraging children to take managed risks, solve problems, work together and develop independence. It is often where some of the most memorable learning takes place. Most importantly, outdoor learning nurtures a spirit of adventure and discovery, helping children develop confidence, creativity and a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.

The Ripley Court Journey Begins

Where you are part of something bigger

Unlike many standalone nurseries, Ripley Court Nursery is the first step in a continuous educational journey. From the very beginning, children become part of the wider school community, helping them develop confidence, familiarity and a strong sense of belonging long before they move into Reception.

Although Nursery has its own dedicated space, it is fully integrated into life at Little Court, which includes Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Children enjoy being part of something bigger while still benefiting from the security and nurturing environment of Nursery.

Nursery children take part in many aspects of school life, including:

• Being assigned to a House, just like the older children
• Celebrating events such as World Book Day, STEM Week, Athletics Day and Activities Week
• Joining assemblies, performances and community events
• Building relationships with older pupils and staff across the school

Familiar routines, shared experiences and trusted adults help create a smooth and happy transition into Reception and beyond.

From Nursery through to Pre-Prep and Prep School, Ripley Court offers a continuous and nurturing journey where children are known as individuals, encouraged to aim high and given every opportunity to thrive.
