Phil the Bag charity success
Ripley Court School raised over £650 to help renovate classrooms in Zimbabwe.
Every year Ripley Court School hold their charity event “Phil the Bag”, where students, teachers and staff bring in bags full of unwanted items such as clothes, shoes and textiles in order to raise as much money for charity.
The clothes are collected by the Phil the Bag van and go off to get weighed to determine how much the school has raised.
Last year, the school raised $880 which went towards renovating an ECD classroom in the Mlevu School Cluster in Zimbabwe. Ziga Primary School was the recipient of the classroom renovation and were thrilled with their bright new learning space.
The money raised by Ripley Court paid for repairing the walls and floors as well as painting the classroom in what is now known as the “Ripley Court signature green”. The money raised by Ripley Court also provided a truckload of school books suitable for their new government school curriculum.
