Upper Court Prep

Specialist teaching across Upper Court ensures that pupil learning is delivered by specialists, passionate in their field of expertise.

Weekly lessons in French, Computing, Games, Swimming, Geography, History, Religious Studies, Philosophy, Food Technology, Forest School and Art are delivered by specialist teachers.  The Head of Mathematics and Head of English lead all teaching in these core subjects for Years 5 and 6.  Children are grouped in ability sets in Mathematics and English, from the Spring Term in Year 3, to ensure that they progress at their best pace. We introduce Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning along with study skills lessons and
bi-annual exams in preparation for the 11+ entrance tests to senior schools.

Children in Years 5 and 6 are our seniors. From Year 5, they follow an itinerant timetable taught entirely by specialist teachers.

In Year 6, the children notice a distinct increase in workload and take more responsibility for their own work, organisation, and motivation in preparation for their progression to senior school.
