Steven Brunning

Head of Upper Court, PE and Games

PGCE; QTS

Steve graduated from Bournemouth University after studying Hospitality Management and playing rugby for England Colleges. After graduating, he worked as a Rugby Development Officer for the RFU whilst also playing for London Scottish as a semi-professional rugby player.

After graduating with a PGCE in Physical Education from Surrey University, Steve got his first job at Hoe Bridge School. He worked there for several years before joining Ripley Court School to set up the PE department in 2002.

As Head of Upper School, Steve plays a leading role in the school in many areas of school life but with particular attention to the pastoral care for all pupils in Year 3 and above.

As Director of Sport, Steve is passionate about teaching. He takes an inordinate amount of pleasure in encouraging pupils to enjoy a variety of different sports, both as individuals or as part of a team.

Steve leads the history department and is never happier than when his history lessons concentrate on the more gory and gruesome elements of the curriculum!

Outside of school, Steve enjoys rugby, of course, and all other sports. He also enjoys working on his smallholding, where he keeps pigs, goats, sheep, turkeys and chickens. When he has more time, he plans to keep bees too!
