The Ark Nursery - the journey starts here
Ripley Court offers a splendid teaching nursery, where children are welcomed on or about their third birthday. The majority of children start their Ripley Court journey here, and the huge advantage of being an integral part of a school is that the children can use the facilities and specialist teaching in the whole school. This means that they get, as part of their normal curriculum, Ripley Rangers Forest School, swimming, dance, music and French.
They follow the Foundation guidelines for development in Personal, Social and Emotional development; Communication, language and literacy; Knowledge and understanding of the world; Mathematical development; Creative thinking and development and Physical development.
We do not push children too early into reading and writing – but they do take their first steps here and some pick up on the phonics quickly and early.
The week is divided up into ten sessions, and parents are billed pro-rata. We then encourage children in Transition to move towards a full-time pattern before they join Reception.
Children attend five sessions per week as a minimum. Nursery children may choose any five of the ten sessions. Transition children (rising four) attend on Monday to Thursday in the morning and one additional session of your choice, as a minimum.
Although they are part time, in fact many move quickly onto a full-time basis, and many parents do take advantage of Court Jesters, where children are looked after until 5.30pm.
