Christmas Shoebox Appeal

Ripley Court took part in the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind ‘Operation Christmas Child’ in which pupils were

asked to fill shoeboxes with gifts and messages for children in need around the world.

‘Operation Christmas Child’ is a projectrun by Samaritan’s Purse International - a non-denominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1993 ‘Operation Christmas Child’ has collected and delivered more than 135 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in more than 150 countries and territories. This year the Ripley Court pupils filled over 50 shoeboxes with gifts such as soft toys, bouncy balls, colouring pens, toothbrushes, soap, sweets, gloves and notes of friendship. These shoeboxes are currently on their way to Bosnia to give some needy children a Christmas to remember. Many thanks to those who took the time to fill a shoebox, we can just imagine the smiles on the children’s faces as they open their boxes!
