Children donate £2,303.23 to Cherry Trees

A number of children visited Cherry Trees to present a cheque.

Boys and girls from Year 6 visited Cherry Trees this morning to present a cheque for £2,203.23 raised from the school sponsored walk “A Journey Through Time” and the summer fair.  Tania Cantoni received the cheque on behalf of Cherry Trees and thanked the school very much for their generous donations over many years.  She explained the work of Cherry Trees and the children asked her lots of questions.  These are some of the facts that they learned:

Cherry Trees provides respite care for children with severe disabilities.  The children are aged 3 – 19.  Adele

We raised money for them by doing the sponsored walk and the summer fair.  Cherry Trees will use the money to pay for trips and essentials e.g. stationery.  Freya

The children go there for holidays and they can have sleepovers in the house.  We took a cheque.  It was worth more than two thousand pounds. Anu

Cherry Trees is a place where they go for evenings and weekends and they also stay for sleepovers.  Zak

They go there on weekends, on holidays and sometimes in the day.  Isla

Cherry Trees provides care. They have lots of things for the children.  We had our photo taken with the cheque. 18 children can sleep there.  James
