Pond Dipping Delight

Year 4 enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of pond dipping in the Ripley Court pond this term.

The pupils used dipping nets to sweep through the water and then carefully place their catch in water filled trays to see what minibeasts they had found. The school pond was brimming with life and species found included pond snails, phantom nymph larvae, damselfly nymphs, water boatman, whirligig beetles and everyone’s favourite the water scorpion. It’s great to see such enthusiasm to learn and also to know that the school pond is thriving!
