Spring Term Sport Update
It’s been a very busy term in the sports department so far, with a variety of sporting events taking place for all pupils.
The boys began the term with rugby, training hard and playing competitive matches against numerous oppositions. The girls’ focus was hockey; however they also got stuck into some football, and even too part in an U9 tournament. They came an exceptional first place out of the seven schools participating - well done to all who played. Both the boys and girls have been successful in many fixtures this term, with some senior girls playing alongside the boys. More recently, a selection of pupils competed in the Barrow Hills cross country race; the U13 girls had a brilliant run positioning them an overall first, the U9 boys also ran well and came third overall. Our U10 girls attended Bishopsgate in a challenging netball tournament against nine very competitive teams; the girls did exceptionally well, missing out on the bronze medal in the final moments of the last game.
Towards the end of this busy term, we hosted Ripley Court’s first internal House Aquathlon event. All four houses provided 10 competitors across all the age groups and went head to head to win the first Aquathlon title. The event proved to be tough with the transition between the two length swim and the one lap run being a significant challenge. However, the event worked effectively as a relay, encouraging all age groups to interact and support each other. Congratulations to Arapahos for taking first place - we’d also like to thank all the parents who came to support and the rest of the athletes for their effort and positivity towards the event.
The sports department would like to congratulate all pupils on their sporting successes this term; we ask that you keep us informed on all your awesome achievements – keep it up!
